چکیده

This paper deals with spectral representation of the glottal ow. The LF and the KLGLOTT88 models of the glottal ow are studied. In a rst part, we compute analytically the spectrum of the LF-model. Then, formulas are given for computing spectral tilt and amplitudes of the rst harmonics as functions of the LF-model parameters. In a second part we consider the spectrum of the KLGLOTT88 model. It is shown that this model can be modeled in the spectral domain by an all-pole third-order linear lter. Moreover, the anticausal impulse response of this lter is a good approximation of the glottal ow model. Parameter estimation seems easier in the spectral domain. Therefore our results can be used for modi cation of the (hidden) glottal ow characteristic of natural speech signals, by processing directly the spectrum, without needing time-domain parameter estimation.

Spectral correlates of voice open quotient and glottal flow asymmetry : theory, limits and experimental data

The effects of voice open quotient and glottal waveform asymmetry are studied in the spectral domain. The hypothesis that the amplitude difference of the first and second harmonics of the inverse-filtered voice signal (H1*-H2*) is a reliable spectral correlate of the open quotient is tested. Theoretical arguments and experiments are reported. In the theoretical part, analytical formulas are der...

Parabolic spectral parameter - A new method for quantification of the glottal flow

This study presents a new frequency domain parameter, Parabolic Spectral Parameter (PSP), for the quantification of the glottal volume velocity waveform. PSP is based on fitting a parabolic function to the low-frequency part of a pitch-synchronously computed spectrum of the estimated glottal flow. PSP gives a single numerical value that describes how the spectral decay of an obtained glottal fl...

Speaker Discrimination Ability of Glottal Waveform Features

To measure the extent to which individual glottal features obtained via inverse filtering can be used to discriminate between the speech of different speakers, we test a set of 16 glottal parameters on a 50-speaker subset of the TIMIT corpus in a frame-level pairwise speaker discrimination task. In addition, we compare a vector of glottal parameters to a set of spectral envelope features in the...

Glottal area patterns in numerically simulated diplophonia

The presentation explores diplophonia via numerical simulations of glottal vibrations. The aim of the study is to improve the understanding of glottal wall vibration and area waveform patterns of nonmodal phonation as observed via laryngeal highspeed videos. Diplophonia has been described as the simultaneous perception of two pitches during voicing. A broader definition is the vibration of diff...

Characterising vowel phonation by fundamental spectral normalisation of LX-waveforms

Objective spectral reference standards for normal vowel phonation are described. Application in larynx cancer monitoring is envisaged. 120 individuals contributed to a database of vowels lad and /i/ in the form of trans-larynx impedance time series captured using an electrolaryngograph. The impedance signals are used for iterated power spectral estimation followed by spectral intra-pooling for ...
